PASTORAL PLAN FOR THE
CURSILLO MOVEMENT
OF THE CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA
INTRODUCTION
The goal of the Cursillo Movement is for the Apostolic renewal of society. It is our
desire to encourage all Cursillistas to participate actively and intentionally in this
ministry of evangelization, in creating a spirit of welcoming in all that we do.
The National Conference of Bishops states that our efforts toward this goal will be
"meaningless unless they are steeped in prayer. Without prayer, the Good News of
Jesus Christ cannot be understood, spread or accepted. These goals can be accomplished
only by opening our hearts to God, who gives to his children everything they seek (Mt.
7:11), who responds when we knock and who answers when we persevere in asking (Mt. 7:7-8).
We must ask unceasingly for the grace to evangelize. The moment we stop praying for the
grace to spread the Good News of Jesus will be the moment when we lose the power to
evangelize."
Recognizing this, we seek to foster a deeper sense of spirituality and prayer within
our community, asking that all of our committees, including the secretariat, be
communities of prayer.
Additionally, in the proper application of the Cursillo method, there is a
well-orchestrated complementary effort between the Precursillo and the Postcursillo, into
which the three-day Cursillo weekend is integrated. It is our intention to deepen the
awareness of all Cursillistas that Cursillo is a way of life and not simply a weekend
experience.
Finally, we hope for and are committed to maintaining a continuing dialogue with our
Bishop.
